Thousands of Americans traveled hundreds of miles to be in Alabama in the autumn of 2003 as Chief Justice Roy Moore faced a showdown with the federal court over the issue of whether, as Judge Myron Thompson described it, the state could acknowledge God. Steadfast, Chief Justice Moore gave up his prestige, his power, and his pension to acknowledge God as the Bible commands.
Part I in this set, “Remember the Alamo!”, introduces the historical basis for the acknowledgement of God and shows the court's rejection of God through the maxim, “separation of church and state.” In addition, this part covers the life of Roy Moore from his birth to the beginning of the 1997 case attacking prayer and the Ten Commandments in his Gadsden, Alabama courtroom. Part II, “Kiss the Son,” explains the Scriptural basis for the acknowledgement of God in the United States. The story picks up where Part I leaves off, taking Judge Moore to victory over the plaque case, and then propelling him into office as the Chief Justice of Alabama.
